WordPress

WordPress is a database based website platform. Quicker than traditional html. Designed by bloggers so they could create sites with little technical experience. But why should bloggers have all the fun.  Absolutely free and thousands of styled themes for you to choose from.  A huge amount of plug-ins available to add functionality to your site at no or little cost.

Elementor

Considered the number 1 Page Builder for WordPress.  Free for simple websites and a small cost to go Pro for full functionality.  Works with any provider that supports WordPress.  Great Support and new functionality added all the time. Own set of templates as well as support for WordPress Themes.

And Elementor and SiteGround are the perfect match for a WordPress site.  Click below for Elementor’s list of recommended WordPress Hosts. (SiteGround is top).

Astra

Astra is the default WordPress theme used by Dynamiser if a client elects not to choose another.  This Theme works as a blank theme and Elementor templates can still be used.  Astra has some pre-built websites developed using the Astra theme that you can use via a plug-in. Click below to see.

What does Host, Domain and so on mean for a non-geek

So what is a Theme or Template?

They are a great way to start your site with an existing look-and-feel that you like. From there you can change the logos, images, photos and text to suit your business along with the font type and colours. To maintain that same look Dynamiser will then create a new template, based on the updated design, that can be used through out all pages on your site.

To demonstrate, this Technology page was created using the “Architect-Projects” Elementor template to highlight the functionality. Click on the WordPress and Elementor links above to see loads of superb Themes and Templates that you may like to use. If not then Dynamiser will help you start your own look-and-feel from scratch.

So how do you go about choosing your fonts and colour schemes for your site? Check out the links below for examples of modern fonts that look good on websites. Cannot see the font you want then Dynamiser can help locate and import. The Colour Picker tool allows you to pick examples to see how they look, especially if you want to use gradients, ignore the web-based jargon, it is just the numbers starting with a # that we need to colour your site look the way you want.

You will see terminology such as domain name, url, hosting, host provider, DNS and so on. Let’s make this easy, all these are just geeky words for how your website is found. Liken it to an address on a street.

The Street is owned by the host provider, the internet knows to go to that provider to find the domain, finds the right site and presents it to the user in a browser in the same way you would walk down a street to the shop you want and walk in through the door.

Below is a “virtual street” where all the businesses are hosted by one provider. The internet simply goes down the road until the right shop is found, ie the ABC Denim Company.
