Flip Boxes
A great alternative to any other menu style. They are great for catching attention and providing multiple parts to the menu option.
With some of the other methods you may have seen, the drawback can be combining a graphic with the title and text you may want. A flip box does what it suggests; hove over it and see the box flip from one side to the other.
In its simplest form one side could have an eye catching graphic representing the option but the flip-side gives that bit more detail to help the customer understand the option.
Below is a simple flip box, one the front you can see an option for a refrigerator repair, hover over it to see more details

Imagine a row of these flip boxes representing multiple options to the customer, there could be boxes for Sales, Servicing and Cleaning refrigerators. The flip action can be Flip, Push, Zoom or Fade. We can see those on the examples below. The Flip can be either left or right, the Push Up or Down and the Zoom can be in or out. The design is totally customisable to suit your requirements. In the example below, we can see the flip boxes have transparent backgrounds over a nice graphic, hover over the different barrels to see Slide, Push and Zoom in effects

Click HereA smooth fade can add a touch of class to the flip boxes. The examples below can be used instead of image blocks or CTAs as we are using just image and picture but instead of just a link, the flip reveals more information and the button.
So we have great images to attract the eye, information and interaction which all adds value to your visitors experience. All the buttons work so go ahead and hover and then click the buttons.

A single box can be used to ensure a graphic is not over complicated with additional text. We see this in action below with a Fade based flip box below, hover over the box to reveal the extra text. This time the graphic is on the back to meet the objective of an uncluttered graphic but still emphasise the message objective of the back text.
